New year’s chivitos

Our dear friends Guille & Kathy invited us on new year’s eve, to say farewell to 2013 with a chivito!
for the bread rolls, I followed a recipe by Marjie Lambert, The Complete Bread Machine Book – as for more details about the chivito have a look here: Anatomy of a Chivito

Hamburger Buns and Hot Dog Rolls

  • 200ml milk
  • 4 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 450gr bread flour
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 3 tbsp milk for brushing
  • sesame seeds, optional

STEPS
1. put all ingredients (except milk for brushing and sesame seeds) in bread tin in the order suggested by your bread machine instructions. Set for white bread, dough stage

2. when the dough is ready, remove and punch down

3. cut the dough into 9 pieces and rest for 5mins

4. for hamburger buns, roll each piece into a ball and flatten it (7.5cm wide, 1cm thick) – for hot dogs roll each piece into a 15cm rope and flatten to 1cm thickness

5. place rolls on a backing sheet, cover loosely and set in a warm place to rise for 20mins
